TV2 OUT
The TV2 OUT is designed to distribute audio and video from the "TV2" tuner to a TV or multiple TVs within the home. Following are characteristics of this output:
Uses a traditional RF or coaxial type connection
Can be connected to RG6 or RG59 coaxial cable (better quality cable generally provides a better quality picture).
To help insure quality picture and sound, the signal output is amplified to compensate for signal loss that naturally occurs when distributing audio/video through a splitter and long runs of coaxial cable within the home.
When connecting to this modulated coaxial output (TV2 OUT), you must meet requirements covered under FCC Compliance in Appendix B of the user manual. To meet these requirements, an in-line coaxial attenuator has been included and may need to be installed using the following guidance:
If connecting directly to a TV tuner port, you must install the attenuator in the cable between the TV2 OUT port and the TV tuner.
If connecting to your in-home cabling system to distribute the signal to a TV(s) in other rooms, in most cases you will not have to install the attenuator for typical in-home cabling systems.
Programming from this output can be distributed over existing wiring within a home, even if it's already being used for programming delivered from an off-air antenna or cable. This is accomplished by selecting a channel where there is no programming or adjacent to the channel. For example, if you receive local programming from an off-air antenna and there is no programming on channels 27, 28, or 29, then channel 28 is a suitable choice to "modulate" or locate the satellite programming onto. Channel 28 in effect becomes the "input" on the TV where satellite programming can be found. In this example, if you were viewing local programming from an off-air channel, you could view DISH Network satellite programming by simply changing the TV channel to 28, changing the mode of the remote to the "SAT" mode, and operating the receiver as normal. To return to local programming, simply press the "TV" button on the remote control and change channels on the television as normal.
If programming is received from an off-air antenna, then the channel range to select from is 21 - 69 "Air". If programming is received from a cable source, then the channel range to select from is 73 - 125 "Cable". Selection of the appropriate programming source and channel number selection is made within the setup menus of the receiver.
Ensure the television recognizes the new channel (e.g. Channel 28) when channeling up or down on the TV. When the TV was originally setup, this "new channel" did not exist and was therefore not preset in the TV as a possible channel. Refer to the television's user manual for the proper procedure to add this channel into the TV's preset list.
The TV2 OUT is monaural audio on the 222 and 322.
If there is not another source of programming being used, then any channel selection is suitable, however, you must first select either the "Air" option or "Cable" option and select a channel within that option's range. A channel selection within "Air" is generally most desirable. For example, if no other programming source exists and satellite programming from the output is distributed to multiple TVs within the house, then channel 25 could be selected and all TVs connected to this tuner would be left on channel 25. An alternative would be to use the TV2 composite audio/video output. This, however, is less desirable when connecting to distributions with a large number of TVs or when long cable runs exist. In this example, the output has the advantage due to its high output and because the audio and video are combined onto a single cable.
