This cable is an alternate format of carrying Dolby Digital audio (another audio only cable), is less prevalent than optical technology among stereo receivers. It is a coaxial cable with RCA-style connectors. This has the same capabilities and format-support as optical cable, and is only supported on DISH Network receivers via the AC-3 adapter available for the 4000 and 5000 receivers.
DISH Network doesn't recommend runs over 12 feet.
If a properly installed optical cable begins to fail, symptoms could include intermittent or choppy audio, pops or squeals similar to decode errors, or complete loss of audio.
