- Connect the RCA cables from the receiver Output to the PocketDISH.
How To?
AV402E: connect the analog AV-cable to the AV connection (center jack) of the PocketDISH. Connect the left and right RCA end to the audio output of the satellite receiver.
* The AV402E cannot record analog video through the RCA cables, only analog audio.
AV500E: connect the PocketDISH to the docking station. Connect the docking station to the RCA audio and video outputs of the satellite receiver using the analog AV-cable.
AV700E: connect the PocketDISH to the docking station. Connect the docking station to the RCA audio and video outputs of the satellite receiver using the analog AV-cable.
Analog audio and video can now be recorded to the PocketDISH. If not,

Power receiver/all tuners off to accept the upgrade. Use the Software Upgrade screen for the 721 and 921. Eventually, either 061 message or black screen with blinking LED will appear. Allow up to 60 minutes for the 721, 921 and 15 - 30 minutes for all others. During this time, do not touch the receiver or remote.
To force the software download on 211, 222, 322, 411, 522, 622, 625, 722, 942 receivers, the Updates time can be changed.
- Press Menu on the remote.
- 322: Go to System Setup, Installation, Updates.

- Change the update time to a closer time, then select Done.
- Power the receiver off. At the time chosen, the software will download. Once this has been completed, go back into the Updates preferences and change the time back to the original time set.

What is digital recording?
Digital recording is transferring photos, audio and video from a DISH Network satellite receiver that supports the PocketDISH using the USB B connection. The transfer rate is faster than analog recording. Digital recording from the receiver to the PocketDISH is for audio and video that has been saved on the receiver's hard drive. Digital recording from the PocketDISH to the receiver is for photos.
What is analog recording?
Analog recording is recording audio and video from ANY DISH Network satellite receiver (with RCA outputs) to the PocketDISH using RCA cables. The recording is real time and what you see is what you get. The AV402E will not record analog video.
What DISH Network receivers support the PocketDISH?
522, 622, 625, 722, 942 for digital transfers. All receiver models for real time analog recording.
How are the PocketDISH identified from each other?
AV402E has no speakers. AV500E has one speaker. AV700E has two speakers.
What are the USB A and USB B connections?
USB A is for USB Host connections. USB B is for standard USB connections. DISH Network satellite receivers utilize the USB B connection for digital transfers. USB A Host connections are used for other equipment such as digital cameras.
What happens if the USB cable is disconnected during a file transfer?
The transfer is interrupted and the content will not be available for viewing.
Will the receiver still transfer video, audio and/or photos without signal?
Satellite signal is only required for analog recording because it is real time recording.
Can the PocketDISH record from a cable box or Tivo unit through the USB port?
No, the PocketDISH will not recognize the equipment.
How does the PocketDISH update software?
The software is updated through the USB port or from the Archos website.
Will video content recorded to the PocketDISH limit the number of photos or music stored on the hard drive?
Yes, there are not different sections for each type of content.
Can the PocketDISH record content to a VCR?
Yes, through the analog RCA connections.

Once a recording has been transferred to the PocketDISH, it cannot be transferred back to the receiver.
- Connect the PocketDISH to power.
- Power on the satellite receiver and PocketDISH.
- Connect the USB B cable.

- Select PocketDISH from the Multimedia menu.
- Select Send to Device.
- Select the recordings to transfer.
- Select Send Video then Done when finished.
