The USB (Universal Serial Bus) Mini Type B port is used to connect the PocketDISH to a DISH Network receiver; the USB Mini Type A port (host) and the supplied adapter cable are used to connect the PocketDISH to a USB mass storage device, such as a USB camera, card reader or flash drive.

The USB B cable supplied with a PocketDISH can transfer data at high speed, 480 Mbit/sec. An hour of recorded programming can be transferred in about 5 minutes from a 622, 722, and 942 receiver. For other receivers, recordings will be transferred real time using an analog connection.
