Special Considerations FAQ

What is the range of the wireless jacks?
100-150 feet. The units must be plugged in on a circuit that is on the same transformer. The units cannot be plugged into two different houses or buildings.

Does the Easy Jack 2 system work with DSL?
They do not work to pass the DSL connection from base unit to extension unit. They do work to pass the phone connection from base unit to extension unit if a DSL filter is placed in the wall phone jack and then a phone cord is connected to the filter with the other end in the base unit.

How many sets can I use at a time?
You can only use one base in a household; however, you can run up to eight extensions off of one base.

Do I have to use both a base unit and extension unit?
Yes, the base unit takes the phone connection from the wall phone jack and transmit the signal over the electrical lines to the extension unit.

Do I have to have phone service? Will the product work with cell phones?
You must have phone service to your home. The wireless phone jacks do not work with cell phones.

How do I know if my satellite box has a connection or if the product is working?
Can I plug the product into a power strip or surge protector?
No. Battery chargers, touch lamps, fluorescent lights, halogen lights, and large appliances also can cause interference preventing the units from communicating.

Will my caller ID work?
If you have the latest revision of the PX-441, which is rev. 4 (should say on back of base unit) the caller ID should work. All PX-211 units are caller ID compatible.

Does your product work with digital phone lines?
No, our product is analog. Most offices have digital phone lines and also a dedicated fax line which is analog. Use the fax line to connect the base unit.

What is the typical connection speed when using the Easy Jack 2 for dial-up internet?
The connection speed is generally in the mid-thirties.

What is the difference between the Data Only jacks and the Voice/Data jacks?
The Voice/Data Jacks have higher voice quality for use with telephones and VoIP service.

How can I tell if the jacks are Data Only or Voice/Data?
There is a label on the side of the Base unit which will say Voice/Data or Data only.
